The discussion of eugenics being at the forefront to racist beliefs and subsequent policies is still relevant today. Whether it's doctors who treat and prescribe (pain) meds selectively as in the video, or more recently performing non consenting hysterectomies in detainees, and especially apparent in the comments of the President who just 2 days ago said the following to a largely white audience attending a rally: "You have good genes, you know that, right?" "You have good genes. A lot of it is about the genes, isn't it, don't you believe? The racehorse theory. You think we're so different? You have good genes in Minnesota."
Trump has spoken of the racehorse theory and of his supposed genetic superiority in the past. The ideas he promotes (associating non white immigrants as criminals, rapists, or coming from shit-hole countries, etc etc) are most often rooted in his feelings of the white race as superior, and thus more deserving and entitled to live here in the US. That he has a loyal and emboldened following is a very scary indicator of how deeply embedded white supremacy and the idea of being superior (Eugenics) still is.
