That's what I said on Friday at a small social gathering with a few family members and friends. Yes it was all white people so any discomfort was only because I challenged the norm. Instead of everyone looking around and shrugging their shoul ders saying "I don't know" or "well I don't think it was on purpose" which is what usually happens in white gatherings (even though everyone knows the answer is yes), I chose the moment to speak up and educate.
Will it make a difference? I don't know, but it made a difference to me.
You may have planted a seed for someone else in that conversation!
