I loved this concept. Loved might be the wrong word, but the idea of being courageous to have the conversation is the first step. The discomfort will actually be comfortable the more you are willing to have the conversations. The more people run away, the longer the problem stays in our society. And when discussing allyship, remember this ..... if you become comfortable in the discomfort then you become a co-conspirator. That is what all my friends want. They don't want someone who serves as an ally or advocate. They don't want a white savior. They want someone who stands with them, hand in hand and lifts them up in the world. Stronger together. Better together. Toward the future together.
If you have never read White Guilt by Shelby Steele, give it a read. It will help you.
