Thank you for asking. I am definitely active and am moving into advocacy. I am seeking out ways to become educated and in the process see my pitfalls of the past and present. For several weeks now, I have been working to figure out what my role is. I know that sitting in inaction is wrong. I am showing up to protests, and recognizing where I have more work to do (and will continue to do so). At this point, I feel that my skills as a teacher of mindfulness and therapeutic yoga are my greatest tools.
Through mindfulness/yoga as a way of life, I already have many years of training and experience in leaning in to discomfort and exploring what's beneath the surface. I recognize when I am feeling threatened and/or defensive, and I use my breath to bring awareness to this and begin to do the work again and again. I have just started offering classes in mindfulness and therapeutic yoga that are designed to teach tools for advocates on this long, long road of activism.
