I don't think I am an advocate... I am at least an ally. This subject of racism, institutional, political, social, pervasive, has troubled me a long, long time. I remember wondering why my grandfather commented that there was one black girl in the my school. Who cared? And then I slowly found out. Jaelyn Coates was right on point, all the time. I learned some more about how insidious racism is. I am at least an ally. I can try to move closer to being an advocate. Not necessarily an activist, but an advocate...The parallel to abusive relationships worked for me.
