On the Allyship continuum, I find myself to be in the active section. For a long time now, I've been feeling uncomfortable declaring myself as an activist, but also trying to make that statement so that in my own clumsy way I can become a part of the solution rather than the problem. Watching these videos, I realize there is still much Ego work at play in my allyship, but I was able to follow through my evolution over time. I am not yet an advocate, but I am finding that I am moving towards it. I've been active for quite some time now: researching issues of power and oppression, engaging in conversation about racial dynamics in Canada, exploring my own White Guilt and educating other White people about this phenomenon in my personal and familial circles... However, I would like to become a stronger ally by finding better ways to address systemic issues, go larger than my immediate circle. I want to understand where there is a need in my community, and how I can most effectively use you privilege to support movements that already exist without overshadowing Black and POC voices.
