I do think that it is important to have the difficult conversations and doing so in a way where you come in prepared to listen for understanding. When others feel heard, they are more likely to hear you and that is what we want when engaging with them and sharing a new perspective. WE can't force them to change their minds, we can only work to get them to hear us and understand. I think it takes courage and commitment towards your values to actually do this. Otherwise, it is too easy to avoid.
