Watching the conversations about how to engage with racial conversation was in humbling, inspiring, frightening and encouraging at the same time. The over arching message seems this reminder that the notion of Perfection is the enemy of the Work. That we need to embrace mistakes, imperfection, humanity, guilt, fear, and so many other things we are taugh to hide, deny, or avoid. On the last conversation, I was reflecting on how the concept of race has effectively divided us, disconnected us from each other, and from ourselves. Hearing about Tim's experience of social isolation reminded me that Whitness and White Supremacy does not serve, it divides us in order to conquer us all for the gain of this grinding machine of capitalism and colonialism. By seeing others with who I disagree as 'less informed', 'ignorant', or 'undeserving', I am reinforcing this division, rather than listening to their stories and finding how we may work together towards connection, accountability, justice, and healing.
