Are you starting to feel more prepared and confident to engage in conversations about race? What do you think about some of the PDF handouts? What thoughts did you have while watching the videos focusing on how to engage others? I really enjoyed these videos in this section, particularly about how to share your own story to connect to another person's story. The best conversations I've had in the past two months have been when I've shared my personal testimony about moving from ignorance and "colorblindness" to really wrestling with our history and the system we live in. The people I've talked with then felt free to share where they were and how they saw things. When they knew they weren't going to be attacked, we were actually able to dialogue. I still was able to be straightforward about facts, but framed them as "I didn't realize this, and when I learned about it I really had to reevaluate my positions". People can tell when you care, and if they can see that you care about their perceptions (even if they're wrong or misinformed) they are more willing to listen and that lays the groundwork for growth.
