On the allyship continuum, I am Aware / Active. I've participated for the past couple of years in my city's "Community Organizing for Racial Equity" where we've had frank and difficult conversations in small groups (after hearing a speaker/ watching a short film). It's only a tiny step. In a community with the most diverse high school in the state, the teachers are nearly all white. In a community with the third largest Chinese population in the state, we have no Asian American city councilors or school committee members. The people with the power....are mostly white. I need to get from knowing, listening, talking to being an Advocate. An Advocate, not a White Savior.
