I feel so humbled. I did this difficult self-reflective work years ago, but I forget that people are all on different stages of this work. I forget that people want to have the appearance of anti-racism, but they may not be ready to LIVE anti-racism.
I have come to a very important conclusion that I think we need to share widely--being an ally, being anti-racist is not a one-time thing or a one hit wonder. Like any art or discipline, it is a PRACTICE. I believe that it is a sacred calling to be an ally and to continually interrogate the self in order to strip away layer after layer. It is not something we arrive at, but something we practice!
