I believe that white guilt and white shame are very real feelings and emotions. When I really started to learn about race I felt immense burden. I wondered am I part of the problem of racism. I also never had to really think about race growing up in a predominately white town but would often notice race when there was only 5 students in my graduating class that were different than me. College really opened my eyes to the country, the world we live in the history of racism. I do wish my parents played a bigger role in educating me more about racial injustice in the community and world. But what I am learning now is you can't go back but can only go forward and push for change.
