I've always considered myself a good soldier in the liberal fight for equality. I have fought with my words and actions, my money and my vote. So why?
Well it's 2020 and what progress have we made?
I questionL could I have done more? Could I have been different, louder, more persistent, less diplomatic, less afraid, more bold? I feel white guilt as I'm sure the answer is yes and I feel white shame as I believe, even with a better me, racism would still be flourishing.
Sounds like white helplessness. I can relate. This training and many others are educating more people to make a differeernce, sot doesn't have to be what more you or I personally can do, but how many more together can make a difference. President Obama's election to the presidency is an example of positive change accomplished. But those who opposed him were ugly about it the day he was elected and joined toghtgether againsterything he stood for and supported the opposite extreme in the White House now. Lets stay and grow together and get better at this allyship.
