What a powerful video ... and sadly true. But this is what systemic racism looks like. The white man in power grants privileges to those they oppress. This has been the problem for so long. Equity, equality, freedom is what is stated in The Declaration of Independence. Now I know that there are issues with Thomas Jefferson and Founding Fathers because they are often found to support equality but not equity. "All men are created equal" but the system is not equitable so only white men will get ahead. They owned slaves, regardless if they were "house servants." They did many good things for the nation, but only to the benefit to those in power which is why tensions did not subside with the victory in the Revolutionary War. We just celebrated Juneteenth. TWO YEARS!! Two years until news of the Emancipation reached the west. That is ridiculous! It was the system of oppression that held them hostage. Those in power did not want the slaves all across America to know they were free. It meant losing the power they had over HUMANS. Humans!! For far too long, whites failed to see the irony in fighting against an oppressor like Britain to only then use that same oppression over African Americans, blacks, hispanics, Native Americans, Chinese, Mexicans .... the list goes on. Those who fought against the oppression faced violence and in many times death. Movies as of late are hitting the issue head on and need to be witnessed. The Hate U Give

#SpeakTruthToPower!! This is a must see. And a must internalize. She echoes what I said above. I did not choose this skin, but we all can choose to be kind, end racism, advocate for equity and equality and make this world our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will be unafraid to live in and better still, proud to be a citizen of.
