Being a high-risk individual sheltering alone in place for the past 3.5 months means I've had no conversations with anyone other than people at work about work issues. So it has been very useful to engage in training such as this. To hear that one does not have a prejudice-ectomy but has tiny pockets of prejudice to continue to root out. To hear that being an ally means risking saying something wrong. Getting tools (handouts, things to read) to enable me to have more meaningful conversations (and not just spout off facts, cuz librarians like me can easily find find data and statistics and chronologies....). Sharing stories. My story? Who would want to hear my story? Mingling stories. That's challenging.
What can I do while sheltering in place?
