I feel like I am more prepared to engage in discussions about race. I still feel nervous about talking with opinionated white people who deny existence of racism or their complicity in upholding white supremacist systems. As a highly sensitive person I tend to physiologically react more intensely in uncomfortable conversations and it takes a lot of energy to maintain homeostasis on a daily basis. I think it's important to go about conversations wisely and to have realistic expectations. We will not cause people to change, we will not convince people with data and clever arguments, people change over long periods of time, etc. We have to pace ourselves in this journey.
