I'm pretty confident that I'm at the active level on the continuum. I work with teachers to help them become more skilled in their work with English Learners. Much of what I do with the teachers is work on perspectives and understanding--even more than the language teaching skills. I've come a long way from where I once was in that I began as a French teacher, and never thought I'd be doing this kind of work. I'm not one to reach out to congressional representatives and the like, but I've at least made it to this stage in the process of becoming an advocate.
