I feel like I'm beginning to understand and take steps in being an authentic ally, however I have a long way to go. I recently reached out to an organization that focuses on people of color in leadership and how to come together as a community to lift up areas and people groups (specifically the black community) to empower them and shift our city's resources so they're available to every one. I'm very thankful for organizations like this and am excited to come along side them to listen, learn, and empower however I can. Because if I keep going the way I am now, I'm still making my voice the center of how I'm appropriating anti-racism work. I want to learn how to left up their voices and essentially "get out of the way" so people of color can be the center of my approach to this work.
