I would consider myself in the Active part of the continuum, since I haven't been implementing my knowledge yet, except at home. I do think I demonstrate allyship now. For a long time I have cared about the treatment of marginalized groups in society, even though I grew up in a small rural town. I had to do some work to break through a small mindset. I vote in ways that I believe will progress social justice. I don't question the experiences of people of color, and I would defend them in conversations with other white people. I will often stop scrolling on my phone to watch a talk from a person of color. I now think about my privilege, especially when I go out. Though I haven't witnessed many instances of blatant racism, probably because I've lived mostly in cities and surround myself with other allies, I believe I would stand up if I knew how to safely in that moment. Following this training, I want to learn how and when to actually step in as a woman who cares about allyship but also about safety.
