Privilege equals power. That is a strong statement. It took me awhile to understand what white privilege really meant. About 8 years ago I attended a diversity training at my school district called "Courageous Conversations". It taught me about white privilege and I now understand what that means. 100% of my day is impacted by white privilege. I can go grocery shopping and not be watched. I can go running and not be stopped by the police. I can buy bandaids that match my skin color. I don't fear that my two daughters will be victims of racial violence. I hate that people of color have to live with these challenges.
