I loved hearing the Ted talk. The experience of her classroom is a common one I believe. Often times, white students are uncomfortable discussing racial histories and fall back on excuses of time passing. It has always been one of my tasks to discuss the benefits of experiencing the uncomfortable-ness for white students. However, I now wonder if this also has made my students of color uncomfortable, or is it like the speaker said, a conversation that students of color are welcoming and hopeful to have.
