White privilege is real, unfathomably real. The video of the lesson of white privilege resonated with me when the speaker talked about calling a historical event, such as the Indian Problem, by anything else than that is taking away the historical significance of it. This is huge. I understand that people get offended by situations, but imagine having to live through it everyday? Based on current protests, and things on the internet and social media related to it, the issue of tearing down historical monuments is being discussed. I see both sides of this issue, but pertaining to what this speaker is saying, choosing to skim over the bad parts of history and call events by something else due to the insensitive notions the names bring, is ridiculous. It is almost as disrespectful to ignore the true names, definitions, and timeline of events as it is to ignore them completely. History is not all pretty, there are negative affiliations with each event. You cannot fully understand history unless you study all parts of it.
