Right away I related with white individuals and their feelings towards a white culture aka no culture. I reflected on this years ago for a class and I remember my first thoughts being negative, relating it to American history and being ashamed. I do have these same feelings and still have a hard time identifying traditions associated with white culture, but I'm trying to focus on my culture, keyword -my, my family. There were new insights I gained from listening to the other videos and one of the main things I got was how when we are white, we are white. But with those who are non-white, we (the larger we) almost encourage the differences and intersectionality of their cultures/backgrounds to increase the 'otherness.' I'm white, but I'm also italian and norwegian but no one cares because I'm white.
