As a white woman, writing this is uncomfortable. I didn't know how to start. I feel guilt, sadness, anger for all the injustices I've witnessed and those I never even knew existed. I enjoyed the TED talk and specifically when the speaker spoke about this being an uncomfortable topic and it's OK to acknowledge that. It also hit me hard when the speaker spoke about the concept of "Silencing," which can be understood as when someone with privilege derails a conversation because they are uncomfortable. A conversation that is important, that needs to be had, that needs to be heard.
