These were my fave part of this module so far. As a white person, I totally identified with the woman who felt like she wanted to be open, but was starting to see and acknowledge her own biases, and also the opportunities her whiteness has afforded her. One woman stated she understood her role in system of racism- she tried not to perpetuate it, to speak up against it, but it's a place that she acknowledges- some people don't even do that.
As a mom, the video at the end of this group "A Conversation about Growing Up Black" broke my heart. I know my child doesn't have these same fears to be stopped, questioned, shied away from, criminalized. After Eric Garner and Phillando Castille and George Floyd- I know my teen son has a far better chance of surviving a police encounter just because he is white. It shouldn't be this way.
