I absolutely related to the video with white people discussing race. I know nothing about my ancestry and really don't feel that I have a specific type of culture. Identifying as white has been like a blanket statement my entire life; just is what it is and I've never pushed to know more. As a counselor, I have had to look at my biases in grad school and keep those in check especially when working with clients of color. I want to understand more of my heritage because i find it beautiful that Native American's, Blacks, etc. often know so much about their family history. I have at times felt that I am on high alert when out in public due to being in a wheelchair. However, I have never felt unsafe in the presence of cops or other persons in general. I have never been asked "where I'm from" aside from when I've talked about moving. It feels as though people still question white privilege but when you watch these videos, there no way to not see the astonishing amount of privilege that we are given without any reason.
