Every time I have seen this video it is so profound to me how quickly the children's actions change based on the bias that Mrs. Elliot sets up. It scared me how susceptible we all are to these messages that are put out there and how we have to be so vigilant and aware of what we are taking in and what we are putting out into the world that is influenced by people who do not have everyone's best interest in mind. It reminds me how careful I need to be and how reflective I need to be especially as a social worker and administrator. My actions, my bias can so easily be reflected in decisions that affect other profoundly and that makes me feel the weight of the responsibility I have to ensure that I am really examining myself and my actions. That is part of the reason I am taking this class. I studied justice and bias and disparities in school but I have to keep this on my radar and continuously seek to promote actions that utilize all the knowledge I have obtained.
