I did relate to some of the experiences in the videos, especially the one where there are conversations with white people about race. I sometimes can get uncomfortable talking about race. I want to learn more and be a better ally. The part that makes me uncomfortable is not wanting to say the wrong thing because I don't want to offend anyone. I realize this comes from needing to better educate myself. It comes from defensiveness and it brings silence. With silence comes complicity. Those, like myself, who don't have to live with racial inequality should use their voices for those who are living with racial inequality. One way to speak up is to acknowledge and reflect on our own actions and how a situation has emerged. It's good to not be the center of that voice and better to stand by a person of color and help the amplify their voices.
