I was a bit emotional watching that video. I was so sad to see the kids adopt the "some are better, some are worse" mentality so easily and become overtly mean about it. It made me feel sad for all the marginalized people who face those stressors everyday and cant just 'take of their collar' -- I loved the message Mrs. Elliot taught those kids at such as early age. I loved their joy in reuniting after the 'experiment' and throwing away those collars....Very eye opening. Two take aways: 1) this video reminds us that kids are impressionable and our words and actions can influence how their biases and beliefs are shaped so we must do our best to set positive, loving, humanist examples for our children and 2) marginalized people have a lot of hurt and stress to bear on a daily basis, so we need to do our best to not contribute to that, and help fight it.
