Taking the implicit bias tests was fascinating. Everyone has implicit biases and even trying to show that I think I don't, they still showed up in my reaction times. Unfortunately, the idea that white is preferred is ingrained in me and even though I don't like to admit that I am sometimes uncomfortable around people of color, I am. I think it is important to be aware of implicit bias and to understand how it can play out in our lives and in the way we perceive and treat others. Being aware of these biases and actively working to not give in to them is important to the work of anti-racism.
