I've seen this video in a couple different classes, and have been amazed at how quickly the children fall into their roles each time. This watch-through, however, I was more curious about the teacher. It is amazing (and wonderful) that a white teacher in small town Iowa was able to do this so many decades ago. I'm from small-town Iowa and I'm not sure how well this would have gone over even more recently in my community. I don't recall previous classes talking about how the community reacted to the teacher's methods, but I hope this teacher made it an ongoing, yearly experiment with her classes. It is so important for us to understand what makes people act the way we do, because only then can we improve.
