I've seen Jane Elliott's experiment with blue eyes and brown eyes with children before. I've also see her do this with adults and it's a great experiment to see how physical aspects of your body can manifest ways that we separate ourselves from one another. It shows racism at it roots and it's also a very painful experiment as shown in this video with the children. But luckily with the experiment done children, the children learned quickly that we should not discriminate from one another using physical aspects like eye color, race, language, and any other differences that we have as a human race.
Unfortunately with adults they didn't learn the lesson that the children and 3rd grade did. The adults made excuses and refused to believe that they were part of discrimination and racism inside of the experiment. many adults could not handle being discriminated against for anywhere between 20 minutes and a couple hours whereas people of color have been experiencing discrimination their whole lives. White people were unable to understand that the discrimination happening inside the experiment was only a small scale of what people of color face every single day.
Jane Elliot is my hero for conducting these experiments and opening our eyes.
