I found the Implicit Association Tests very interesting. I was embarrassed but maybe not as surprised my results came back the way they did. My first thought I told myself was I got faster as I saw the pictures more often. I assume they took that into consideration so my second thought was to allow myself to sit with the results for awhile. No judgement but just to be aware.
I have seen the Eye Color video a long time ago. I think it would be interesting to see how kids respond today. I would like to think our generation is doing better raising our kids differently but sadly, I probably am wrong.
All of the videos in this module helped me understand how bias informs our behavior and can affect how people feel about themselves. I really learned a lot about white privilege. Prior to this course, I didn't quite understand what it was and felt uncomfortable using the term. Now I better understand it and feel like I could talk somewhat intelligently about it when people challenged the use of privilege. The diagram was very helpful along with the article about white privilege. I think many have previously been taught that privilege meant only economic privilege when there are many different types and just because you have white privilege does not mean you haven't had a hard time or don't have privilege in another area of your life.
