I have taken implicit tests previously in my graduate program, so I knew what to expect. However, the results are as what was expected and revealed in each that I show a "slight to moderate" preference for White/ light skin/ etc. over dark skin/ Black/ Asian/ etc. This is not surprising to me as I am White and I have grown in up in predominately White towns, gone to predominately White schools etc. I never had any Black or many POC teachers growing up, I had only a few friends who were POC. This of course, is not okay with me! I do not want to hold these implicit biases and want to work very much to dissolve those biases, however, they are there and becoming aware of them, attuned to them, and self-aware is a crucial step in developing an antiracist identity.
