My results (for my own reference):
Strong preference to lighter skinned people to darker skinned people
Moderate preference to white people over black people
Little preference to European American to Asian American
No Preference between Native Americans and White Americans
I must say that I was disappointed to see the results to the first two above. I was hoping that I was going to be relatively in the middle with all of them, and I want to be in the middle where I have no preference over one or the other, but clearly there is a difference between lighter skinned, white people and darker skinned and black people. I was happy to see only a little preference to European Americans over Asian Americans, which I think might be in part due to the demographics of where I grew up (we didn't have many Asian Americans in my town) and even still where I live now. I was really happy to see no preference between Native Americans and White Americans, but also wonder if that is because I was never exposed to Native American people in person growing up so those biases weren't formed. My mom also traces her heritage back to Native American people. Whether there is truth to that or not I'm not sure, but I wonder if that is why I scored lower on the other three: because I didn't see myself in them.
