I have recently heard of Jane Elliot and her Blue Eye Brown Eye experiment. I watched another video of her recently where she asked a room full of white people to stand up if they wanted to be treated the way African Americans are and no one stood up. She was trying to show white people if you don't want it or expect that type of treatment that is displayed to African Americans then you shouldn't allow African Americans to be treated that way. Basically, we should all treat others how we want to be treated no matter the skin color, etc. I thought the Blue Eye Brown Eye experiment was a great way to show children that it isn't okay to treat someone poorly just based on who they are and how they look. It showed ingroup/outgroup bias...an us against them mentality. Since the students were focused on eye color, they assumed eye color was responsible for an individual's attributes.
