Implicit bias is not a new term to me. Since I started graduate school it is even one that comes up often. I am also familiar with the implicit bias association tests. At this point- I have taken almost every single one; however, I am always nervous. I know I have bias. I work hard to confront my bias, but the notion of something directly telling me can be intimidating. There's times where I want to get defensive. I even remember after one of them questioning the validity of the test. But that is not what we should be doing with this information. I need to evaluated my bias and start to address it not make excuses. My results to this set were not surprising. I knew I would have slight bias and I know a lot of it would be because of my lived experiances. Where I live, who is around me, who I am friends with, work with, etc.
