I have done some of these tests before. This was a good refresher, though. Being familiar with the process, I actually started realizing as I was taking the tests, that I still more quickly associate (for example) "white" with "good" and "Black" with "bad." The first time I did this exercise, I think I was horrified. Now, I realize it's not something to feel shame about. This is "implicit" bias. It's much more important that I'm aware of this so that I can constantly examine myself for when my bias is kicking in. I probably can never get rid of a bias that has been ingrained in me by society, but I can be aware and make sure I'm not acting in a place of bias.
