This video made me feel a little sick. Made me feel uncomfortable. Towards the end I was thinking about how good it felt for those kids to take off their collars, the identifier that made them less. I was thinking about how people of color NEVER get to just take it off and live comfortably. They carry that identifier, that in this country somehow makes them less, with them EVERYWHERE, EVERY DAY. I was making connections between the teacher and the way she spoke about the lesser group ("Bobby forgot his glasses? The other girl didn't forget hers. See how this group of people isn't as smart?") to the media and how it presents certain situations ("George Floyd was a criminal and was high at the time of his arrest, see how that justifies what happened to him?") And people believe it whole heartedly without a second thought, because it confirms their own biases.
