What is interesting is I've actually seen the whole documentary before in one of my early classes on the Holocaust in 8th grade. Looking back at it, the experiment and the results are still somewhat shocking. Particularly, how quickly the children are to turn on each other for something as small as eye color. It's actually quite scary how cruel we can be to one another, especially with a power structure or system that reinforces it. In both cases of brown eyes favored over blue or blue favored over brown, in addition to the kids reinforcing these norms (use the yard stick to discipline brown eyes) the teacher also gave out special privileges and disadvantages. In some ways, it's like a microcosm of what we can see in society.
