What a brilliant illustration of bias. This teacher deserves a Nobel Prize for this work! She handled it so beautifully, emphasized all the right things and then did a wonderful debriefing with the students. It made the kids uncomfortable, but that's the point! To learn these hard lessons, we often have to experience some discomfort.
What an engaging presentation, and I learned so much. I was also shocked at the small class size: what a difference it must have been to learn in such a small group setting.
I loved the video and the teacher, too. The students knew what she was talking about when she asked them how people of other colors were treated. I bet this experiment helped some of those kids to see the wrong in having anything against a person because of their color. It was put on their level and she played it up really well. I wasn't sure who the adults were that were watching. I wondered if they were the kids' parents.
