Personally, I had a really hard time watching this without getting emotional. It was a reminder to me that I see bias every day and sometimes I don't feel empowered to call staff out on it because I am not their evaluator. I see bias in gender - calling on and preferring female students vs males who they believe are "full of energy" and "cannot sit still." I see bias in race and religion. It's most alarming that educators have such an influence on student's well being each day for many hours and are bringing bias and experiences to them which shape and mold them and also give them a view of the world.
I wonder how we can call one another out when we see bias - knowing we are not their evaluator. The video is a great start and hopefully would open people's eyes to anything they say and do in their classroom and how it can affects students profoundly.
