I found this video of the experiment to be very powerful. While it was obvious that the respective groups felt devalued and isolated by their labels, what was most impactful to me personally was how it affected their academic performance.
This replicates the systemic issue that is faced daily in the education system and I assume directly correlates with the quantity of black people that are not completing their high school education. As we learned from Module 1, 70% of black men that didn’t complete high school end up in prison or in jail. They are a product of their environment and in this case, being served a significant injustice from as early as kindergarten and elementary school ages.
