I am a white European mother of two black African children. I have lived and worked in three continents and have taught in a wide range of international schools.. but I still scored as moderate preference to light skinned people. For the race test, I scored slight preference for white Europeans to African Americans. This does not surprise me as it reflects the whiteness of my upbringing which is the biggest contributor to my identity formation and resultant bias, I guess. I am interested in what my children's results would be though. They were both born in Tanzania, where I lived for years.. but we now live in Singapore and our family is in Europe.. Will they have the same bias as me despite the fact that they themselves are dark skinned?
