Given everything I have been taught school and college, I wish that learning about the historic and modern day injustices weren't as surprising as they are. There were things throughout the first module that I learned for the first time, and then there were things that I have known about but not to the extent that was explained. I feel that teaching about the historical injustices that groups of people had to face needs to be taught in our schools. And I think by doing this there would be a clearer outline of the systemic racism, and all other discriminatory and oppressive practices are still ongoing in our world today. I know that teachers/schools are only allowed to go based on what the governing agency allows, but there needs to be a shift in our thinking and learning if we ever want to get to a truly equal society.
