Our society today is very affected by our history. Slavery never ended, it was just reformed. We can't move forward without acknowledging the past, like slavery, the mass incarceration, etc. All systems in our world today link to white supremacy and maintaining the status quo. These are different times, but there are still many efforts in our capitalist society to marginalize people. The system was built off of and still benefits off of the marginalization and mistreatment of non cis straight white men. Watching these videos made me feel really upset with our history, and I hate that these events occurred. Especially the experiment where they injected young black boys with a dangerous chemical. I was furious.
I haven't really educated myself on the actual history of our country - of the experienced of different marginalized people - until recently, and the more I learn, the more I want to become involved in some way to help people. I'm not very good at talking about racial inequality, because I'm new to learning about these injustices, but I am making an effort to not be ignorant anymore. I've learned a lot in this training. I look forward to learning more, especially to shut racists up.
