When we talk about race, poverty, and their ties to the prison system and mass incarceration, we can not do it without talking about the school to prison pipeline. It's frustrating to know that we almost groom children to become prepared and expectant of a reality in which their narrative of "suspicious" "criminal" or "threat is written for them. The walls may change but the function of maintaining unwanted behaviors in an environment that perpetuates them stays the same.
