Yes. Absolutely. The pain, oppression, and turmoil has come to surface many times throughout history. It's only now that we are trapped inside with less day to day distractions that we are fixated on finding a solution. I love being a part of a generation so vocal. I love learning about our roots and obstacles that we have overcome as a human race. We still have a long way to go but by focusing on fixing legislation, educating ourselves, voting for the change we wish to see can really go a long way.
Yes, I can see and feel all the connections of the many ways White Supremacy and the system it has created suppresses and oppresses people. As I learn, I want to help my fellow peers, community members, and family learn too.
It wasn't until I took a few anthropology courses my senior year of bachelor's degree that I learned true History. I always loved History, but I felt betrayed that I wasn't told the WHOLE story, much less any of HER stories. I've learned that it all happens for a reason to brainwash and assimilate humans to playing the role they have designed for us. The more we learn and the more we know can empower us to fight back and actually live in a democracy. I believe history as we are taught it to be can definitely control a persons belief AND behaviors. I.E: The fight to take down Confederate Statues. I believe history as we choose to learn and dig into can definitely control the changes we make that can affect our future.
