These historical events, rules, and laws still impact our society today. I have reflected on how the sum of all things have led to institutional and environmental racism and so much more to this day. These harmful effects have either been ignored purposefully and skimmed over in textbooks leaving our generation ignorant of the issues that are continually brewing. That ignorance needs to be transformed into change. My white society has constructed these barriers over centuries. It should not take more centuries to tear down the barriers. We have the technology today to teach others to use their voice, listen, and together as a collaborative team, we can tear down and build up. I would love to know personal success stories of change in the classroom, especially through distance learning when students and families were left without the necessary resources to be connected to learning.
