I was just genuinely in shock and disgust after watching these videos. Growing up, I can't recall learning about almost any of these terrible events that occurred at the hands of OUR country. It almost makes me feel shameful to live in the USA because such a large amount of minority groups have suffered here, all for white people to benefit. It is astounding how people who are black making $100,000 are STILL living in areas where white people are making less than 3x that amount. It really puts it into perspective how difficult it is for black people to be successful and move up in society. This shows that these events are still impacting our society today and I think it is important people are aware of these events in order to understand why things are currently the way they are.
I agree, Samantha. I was particularly appalled at the Indian adoptions, the medical practices, and the environmental racism. That's not to minimize the other atrocities in any way.
Being from Michigan, I'm embarrassed to say I was not familiar with the term environmental racism before now.
